Work You Purchased Directly from Castle
One year, parts and labor. If you paid Castle directly for the work, and something we installed or repaired fails within a year, we fix it. No service call fee for a covered warranty visit. The one exception is wear items, which are spelled out below.
Repairs
- Labor on all repairs: 1 year from the date of service.
- Parts we supply and install: 1 year, against defects in materials or workmanship. Wear items are excluded — see below.
New Garage Door Installations
- Door sections, panels, and factory finish: Covered by the manufacturer. Terms vary by model and run from roughly 10 years to lifetime. The exact coverage is noted on your paperwork, and we register it for you where registration is required.
- Hardware and moving parts: 1 year from Castle.
- Weather seals, bottom seals, and trim: Not warranted. See wear items below.
- Our labor: 1 year.
Openers, Remotes, and Accessories
- Openers (motor, belt or chain, logic board): Covered by the manufacturer. Most residential openers carry multi-year coverage on the motor and shorter coverage on electronics; the specifics are on your unit’s paperwork.
- Our labor: 1 year.
- Keypads, remotes, and smart accessories: Manufacturer warranty only.
- We handle the claim. If a manufacturer warranty applies, you don’t have to chase it. Call us, we’ll file it.
Gates and Gate Operators
- Gate operators: Manufacturer warranty on the unit, 1 year Castle labor.
- Gate hardware we supply (hinges, rollers, tracks, chain, arms): 1 year parts and labor.
- Welding and fabrication: 1 year on our labor.
- Access control (keypads, intercoms, loop detectors, receivers): Manufacturer warranty; 1 year Castle labor.
Wear Items
Some parts on a garage door and gate are designed to be used up. They don’t fail — they wear out, on a schedule set by sun, weather, and how often the door runs. Because that’s expected rather than defective, wear items carry no warranty at any level, including on Castle Restoration.
- Bottom weather seals
- Perimeter weather seals and trim
- Batteries in remotes and keypads
- Light bulbs
One distinction worth drawing: a seal that’s dried out and cracked after four Southern California summers is wear. A seal that pulls loose two weeks after we installed it wasn’t installed right, and our labor is covered for a year like everything else we do.
Castle Restoration: Lifetime Parts Protection
Most garage doors don’t need replacing. They need the parts that actually wear out replaced — springs, cables, rollers, bearings, drums, and the torsion tube — and a door that’s been running rough for years comes back quiet and smooth for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
That’s the Castle Restoration. And because we replace the whole wear system at once instead of one piece at a time, we can do something we can’t do on a single repair: cover that hardware for as long as you own your home.
What’s Covered for Life
The moving hardware we install during your Restoration:
- Torsion springs
- Cables
- Rollers
- Bearings and center bearing plate
- Drums
- Torsion tube
If any of these fail, the replacement part is free, for as long as you own the home. That’s not a five-year lifetime or a ten-year lifetime. That’s a lifetime.
What “Lifetime” Means, Exactly
- Parts are covered, labor is separate. After your labor warranty period ends, a warranty visit is billed at our standard service rate for the labor. The part itself costs you nothing.
- It’s tied to you, but it can follow the house. Coverage applies to the original purchaser for as long as they own the home where we did the work. If you sell, the new owner can pick it up for a one-time transfer fee. Call us before closing and we’ll take care of it — a transferable lifetime warranty is a real thing to hand a buyer.
- Annual maintenance keeps it active. Coverage stays in force as long as Castle performs annual maintenance on the door, currently $125 per visit. Miss a year and lifetime coverage lapses.
- Wear items aren’t covered. Weather seals, trim, batteries, and bulbs are consumed by sun, weather, and use rather than failing from a defect. They carry no warranty on either tier.
Castle Restoration comes in two levels. Both include lifetime parts protection on the same hardware; the difference that matters here is the labor warranty — 1 year on Castle Restoration, 3 years on Restoration Premium.
Full details and pricing are on the Castle Restoration page.
If You Bought Through Home Depot or Another Retailer
Castle installs garage doors and openers as a contractor for Home Depot. When your purchase went through Home Depot, our technicians did the installation, but Home Depot is the seller — and the warranty on that purchase is administered by them, not by us.
We’re telling you this up front so you’re not bounced back and forth when you need help.
Call Home Depot, not Castle, if:
- You paid Home Depot for the door, opener, or installation
- Your paperwork, receipt, or financing is in Home Depot’s name
- You have a question about what your purchase covers or how long it lasts
Home Depot will open the claim and dispatch the service — which, in most cases in our area, means us. You’ll likely see a Castle truck in your driveway either way. The difference is who authorizes the work.
Home Depot customer service: 1-800-HOME-DEPOT (1-800-466-3337), or the store where you purchased.
Call Castle directly if:
- The door is unsafe or won’t close and you need someone out today. Call us and we’ll get it secured.
- You want to buy something new directly from us
- You’re not sure which category you’re in — we’ll look it up and tell you
The Same Applies to Any Third-Party Purchase
If your door, opener, or gate came through another retailer, builder, property manager, home warranty company, or a previous owner’s contractor, that seller’s terms govern the product. Castle’s 1-year parts-and-labor warranty covers work you purchased directly from Castle. It doesn’t extend to equipment someone else sold you — though we’re always happy to service it as a paid repair, and that repair will carry our normal 1-year warranty on the work we do.
What’s Not Covered
We’d rather be straight with you about this than hide it in six-point type.
- Normal wear and tear beyond the coverage periods above
- Cosmetic scratches, dents, or finish damage that occurs after installation
- Rust or corrosion from coastal air, sprinklers, or standing water
- Damage from accidents, vehicle impact, storms, flooding, earthquake, fire, lightning, or power surges
- Damage from misuse, abuse, tampering, or forcing a door that isn’t operating correctly
- Parts or equipment supplied by someone else
- Failures caused by a lack of maintenance, or by pre-existing problems we identified and you declined to have repaired
- Lifetime Restoration coverage where Castle maintenance hasn’t occurred annually
- Wear items such as weather seals, bottom seals, trim, batteries, and light bulbs
- Structural problems with the building — rotted jambs, settling headers, out-of-square openings — that we didn’t cause
- Labor outside the labor warranty period on a lifetime parts claim
- Lost income, property damage, or other consequential losses
Our warranty covers repair or replacement of the covered part. Where repair or replacement isn’t practical, we may refund what you paid us for it instead. Either way, our job is to make the system right.
If someone else works on the door
If another company adjusts, repairs, or modifies something we installed, we aren’t responsible for failures their work caused or contributed to. We also may not be able to cover a claim if their work makes it impossible for us to tell what failed and why.
That isn’t us looking for an exit. A torsion system is under enough tension to kill someone, and we can’t stand behind a setting we didn’t set.
Unrelated work doesn’t cancel your coverage. If another contractor reprograms your opener, your springs are still covered.
How we find your job
We leave a service sticker on the door or opener with your job information on it. It’s the fastest way for us to identify the work we did, but it isn’t the only way.
If the sticker is gone, damaged, or painted over, that alone doesn’t cost you your coverage. We can look up your job by name, address, or invoice number. If we can’t locate the record, we may ask you for proof of purchase or other documentation.
How to Make a Claim
(800) 576-1397 or email info@castlegarage.com. Tell us roughly when the work was done and what’s happening now. You don’t need to have your paperwork in hand; we can look up the job.
We’ll tell you before we come out whether it’s covered, whether any labor charge applies, and what it’ll be. No surprises at the door.
If you bought the product from us and a manufacturer claim is involved, we file the paperwork — you don’t deal with the manufacturer. If the purchase went through Home Depot or another retailer, that claim goes through them, not us.
Call as soon as you notice something. Report a problem within 30 days of first noticing it. Waiting makes it harder for us to tell what happened, and it can affect your coverage.

The Castle Promise
A warranty covers parts. These cover everything else.
If we’re running late, you get a call before your window ends — not after. Your time is worth as much as ours.
No discovering a new problem halfway through that happens to cost another $400. If we missed something in the quote, that’s on us, not you.
If the same problem comes back during your one-year labor warranty, we come back. No second service call fee.
A lifetime warranty is only worth as much as the company standing behind it. Castle has been family owned and operated since 1981, under the same name, in the same area. When you need us in year twelve, you’ll know where to find us.
Old springs, cardboard, packaging, metal shavings on your driveway. It all leaves with us.

Warranty Terms & Conditions
The legal details behind the warranty above.
These Warranty Terms & Conditions apply to warranties provided by Castle Garage Inc. d/b/a Castle Garage Doors & Gates (“Castle”). They supplement the warranty descriptions above and the warranty information contained in Castle estimates, agreements, invoices, and other written customer documentation.
1. Which Warranty Applies
The warranty applicable to your work is the warranty identified on your Castle invoice, estimate, agreement, or other applicable written documentation.
If the specific written terms applicable to your project differ from these general terms, the project-specific written terms control.
Products or services purchased through The Home Depot or another retailer, dealer, manufacturer, home warranty company, property manager, contractor, or other third party are subject to the warranty program associated with that purchase. Castle’s performance of installation or service work for a third party does not create a separate Castle direct-purchase warranty unless Castle expressly provides one in writing.
2. Residential and Commercial Work
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, the consumer warranty descriptions on this page apply to qualifying residential services purchased directly from Castle.
Commercial, multifamily, HOA, property-management, builder, and other non-consumer work may be subject to different warranty terms stated in the applicable estimate, agreement, invoice, retailer program, manufacturer program, or other written documentation.
3. When Coverage Begins
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, Castle warranty periods begin on the date the applicable work is substantially completed and apply only after the applicable invoice has been paid in full.
Coverage applies to the products, components, and workmanship specifically included in the applicable transaction and at the property where the work was performed.
4. Warranty Remedy
For a valid Castle warranty claim, Castle will determine, in its reasonable professional judgment, whether adjustment, repair, replacement, or, where appropriate, refund of the amount originally paid to Castle for the particular covered product, component, or service giving rise to the claim is the appropriate remedy.
A refund remedy does not entitle the customer to a refund of amounts paid for other products, components, or services that are not the subject of the covered claim.
Unless otherwise required by law, Castle’s obligation under its warranty is limited to the remedy selected by Castle for the covered condition. Warranty coverage does not create a right to a particular remedy or to replacement of an entire system when repair, adjustment, component replacement, or refund is an appropriate remedy.
Repair or replacement of a covered component does not extend or restart the original warranty period unless Castle expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
If an identical product, component, model, color, finish, or part is no longer reasonably available, Castle may use a reasonably comparable replacement.
5. Manufacturer Warranties
Products supplied or installed by Castle may carry separate manufacturer warranties. Manufacturer warranty coverage is determined by the manufacturer’s applicable terms and claim procedures.
Castle cannot guarantee manufacturer approval of a claim, availability of replacement products or parts, processing or shipping times, or continued availability of any particular model, color, finish, component, or product line.
If a manufacturer provides a replacement product or part but does not cover labor, shipping, freight, diagnosis, travel, removal, or installation, those costs are the customer’s responsibility unless independently covered by an applicable Castle warranty.
6. Conditions Not Covered
In addition to the exclusions described above, Castle warranties do not cover a failure or condition caused by or materially resulting from accident, impact, misuse, abuse, neglect, vandalism, improper operation, lack of required maintenance, environmental conditions, power or electrical problems, water, fire, pests, structural movement or building conditions, or products or components Castle did not supply or install.
Coverage also does not extend to failures or damage caused by improper cleaning, painting, coating, pressure washing, chemical exposure, corrosive environments or substances, salt or marine exposure, abrasive cleaners, or failure to follow applicable manufacturer care, use, or maintenance instructions.
Castle is not responsible for failures or damage caused by or materially affected by work, adjustment, modification, repair, or installation performed by anyone other than Castle. Castle may deny warranty coverage where third-party work caused or contributed to the claimed condition or prevents Castle from reasonably determining whether the claimed failure resulted from covered Castle work.
Third-party work does not automatically eliminate otherwise applicable coverage.
Continued operation of equipment after an unsafe, damaged, or abnormal condition becomes known or reasonably apparent may also exclude resulting damage from coverage.
7. Prompt Notice and Opportunity to Inspect
Warranty claims must be reported to Castle within thirty (30) days after the customer discovers, or reasonably should have discovered, the claimed defect or condition and must also be submitted within the applicable warranty period.
Failure to report a claim within thirty (30) days may result in denial or limitation of warranty coverage to the extent permitted by applicable law, particularly where the delay prevents Castle from reasonably inspecting or diagnosing the condition, determining its cause, verifying coverage, or preventing additional damage.
Except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect persons or property, the customer must provide Castle a reasonable opportunity to inspect an alleged warranty condition before the affected product or component is removed, discarded, materially altered, or repaired by another service provider.
Failure to provide Castle a reasonable opportunity to inspect does not automatically eliminate otherwise applicable coverage; however, Castle may deny or limit a claim where removal, alteration, disposal, or third-party repair prevents Castle from reasonably determining the cause of the claimed failure or verifying warranty coverage.
Customers should discontinue operation of equipment that appears unsafe, damaged, or abnormal and take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage.
8. Unauthorized Third-Party Costs
Castle does not reimburse charges incurred for inspection, diagnosis, service, repair, replacement, removal, installation, emergency service, or other work performed by another service provider unless Castle expressly authorized those charges in writing in advance, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
9. Inspection and Non-Warranty Service
Castle may inspect or diagnose equipment before determining whether a reported condition is covered by warranty.
If inspection determines that the condition is not covered, the visit and any requested repair may be subject to Castle’s then-current service, diagnostic, labor, and parts charges.
Whenever reasonably practicable, Castle will advise the customer of applicable charges before performing additional non-warranty repairs.
10. Proof of Coverage
Castle may require information reasonably necessary to identify the original work and applicable warranty, including the customer’s name, service address, invoice or job number, approximate service date, photographs, video, or proof of purchase.
Castle service stickers help identify previously performed work, but removal, damage, or absence of a Castle service sticker does not by itself eliminate warranty coverage where Castle can reasonably verify the original work through its records or other proof of purchase.
Castle may require additional documentation if the original work cannot otherwise be verified.
11. Access, Safety and Scheduling
The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the equipment and work area for warranty inspection and service.
Castle is not required to perform work where conditions are unsafe, inaccessible, unsanitary, obstructed, or otherwise unsuitable for service.
Warranty service is subject to reasonable scheduling and technician availability. Emergency, expedited, weekend, holiday, or after-hours service is not included unless expressly provided by the applicable written warranty.
12. Secondary Damage and Limitation of Warranty Liability
Castle warranties cover only the products, components, services, and workmanship expressly included in the applicable warranty and the warranty remedies described in these terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Castle is not responsible under its warranty for special, secondary, incidental, indirect, consequential, exemplary, or other related costs, losses, or damages resulting from the failure or malfunction of a covered or non-covered product, component, or system.
Examples include, without limitation, loss of use; inability to access or secure a garage, gate, vehicle, residence, or other property; alternative access or transportation; towing or storage costs; lost time; lost income; business interruption; utility costs; additional living expenses; theft or loss of contents; and damage to vehicles, personal property, garage door sections or panels, gates, structures, finishes, or other property or components that are not themselves independently covered by the applicable Castle warranty.
The fact that Castle repairs, replaces, adjusts, or refunds a covered product, component, or service under warranty does not make resulting secondary damage or other consequential loss part of the warranty claim.
This limitation does not eliminate otherwise applicable warranty coverage for another Castle-covered component that independently experiences a covered defect.
Castle is also not responsible under its warranty for secondary or consequential losses resulting from reasonable delay in diagnosis, repair, or replacement caused by product or parts availability, manufacturer delays, supply-chain disruptions, weather, labor shortages, scheduling constraints, or other circumstances outside Castle’s reasonable control.
Customers are responsible for taking reasonable steps to prevent or reduce additional damage after an unsafe, damaged, or abnormal condition becomes known or reasonably apparent. Castle is not responsible under its warranty for additional damage caused or materially increased by unreasonable delay in reporting a known problem or continued operation of equipment after such a condition becomes reasonably apparent.
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any warranty, liability, right, remedy, or consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified under applicable California or federal law.
13. Castle Restoration
Castle Restoration and Restoration Premium coverage is subject to the specific eligibility, covered-component, labor-period, maintenance, transfer, and other requirements described in the Castle Restoration warranty above and in the documentation applicable to the customer’s purchase.
“Lifetime” means the period described in the Castle Restoration warranty above: for as long as the original purchaser owns the property where the work was performed, subject to the annual maintenance requirement, and transferable once to a subsequent owner of the same property for a one-time transfer fee. It does not refer to the service life of any product or component.
14. Written Terms
These terms, together with the applicable estimate, agreement, invoice, warranty description, and other written terms applicable to the transaction, constitute Castle’s written warranty for the covered work.
Statements by Castle employees or representatives do not expand or modify a written warranty unless the modification is provided or confirmed by Castle in writing in the applicable estimate, agreement, invoice, or other written warranty documentation.
Castle may update these general Warranty Terms & Conditions from time to time. Updates apply prospectively and do not reduce warranty coverage previously provided under the written terms applicable to a completed transaction.
